Vinyl siding can be a beautiful, functional, and valuable addition to your home, helping to protect it from the elements while boosting curb appeal. However, its constant exposure to the outdoors means it doesn’t take much for your siding to become dirty. If you want to restore your siding’s beauty and cleanliness, as well as protect it from damaging contaminants like mold, mildew, and algae, you will need to make siding cleaning a priority.

What Equipment Is Used for Vinyl Siding Cleaning?

There are different methods for vinyl siding cleaning, but it’s most important to remember that vinyl siding is quite delicate, so it’s best to avoid harsh, abrasive equipment and products. We recommend soft washing. Here are some examples of equipment used for vinyl siding cleaning:

  • Pump – A soft wash system relies on a pump to generate enough pressure to clean the siding. This is less pressure than a traditional pressure washer exerts, though. These pumps produce around 100–500 PSI compared to pressure washing’s 1,000+ PSI.
  • Hose – Pretty self-explanatory, but a hose is needed to get the cleaning solution from the pump to the areas that need cleaning.
  • Spray Gun – The spray gun applies the cleaning solution to your vinyl siding.
  • Nozzles – Different nozzles can be used to adjust the type of spray delivered. Some can cover a wider area while others provide a smaller, targeted spray.
  • Cleaning Solutions – Soft washing is known for its use of biocides and surfactants that not only lift dirt and grime but also kill organic growth like mold.
  • PPE – Soft washing technicians wear gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and chemical-resistant outer clothing while working.
