Yes, our roof cleaning system – soft washing – is safe for your roof. In fact, it is considered a safe alternative to pressure washing, which is notorious for damaging roofs. It does not strip away materials. It is safe for the environment as it only uses water-based, biodegradable chemicals approved by the EPA as well as significantly less water than other methods. Finally, this roof-manufactured approved method remains effective 4 to 6 times longer by attaching dirt and infestation at its root, which helps prevent them from growing back.
How is roof cleaning safely performed?
The best way to clean a roof is always from the ground. Cleaning from the ground eliminates any risks from being on the roof or a ladder. Fortunately, most residential homes can be cleaned from the ground using water fed pole guns or other extensions. Our team loves being creative in order to stay off the roof.
If we cannot reach something from the ground, we do use ladders and practice ladder safety. You’ll often see us using pool noodles on the last rung to lean against for both comfort and safety. We may also use ladder stabilizers to allow the ladder to stand away from the roof and to protect your gutters or eaves. This wider stance also helps keep the ladder from sliding, which provides additional safety.
Cleaning from the top of roofs can reduce runoff. However, roofs become incredibly dangerous when wet, and we like to avoid this when at all possible. We do not make it our practice to walk on fragile roofs, especially because the following types are especially dangerous when wet.
